Stockard Channing & Eamonn Walker in major roles.
That’s right.
A woman over 20 & a black man heading a show by Ron Moore.
I am so over you, NBC.
You probably ditched this (& Maria Bello in Prime Suspect) for the return of Fear Factor.
How in all of the Nine Realms…
Wow I didn’t even know about this, that show looks (like it would...

Never forget the fact people enjoy racism and sexism. People engage in it for pleasure.
And those who engage in it for pleasure will also gladly explain that their very enjoyment is the reason you have no right to object. “Oh come on, we’re just having fun!”

“I feel like noZ has a lot of people shook in the industry. Cause he got such an encyclopedic brain on the hip hop thing he can intimidate certain mainstream writers. Some people who I believe are shook are sasha frere jones and nitsuh abebe. I was shocked to see nitsuh bow at noZ feet in his Tyler album review. As soon as noZ turn on yellow ninja it’s over for rap...

1. Much as I love Armond White in his own way, and much as I was inspired by his hip-hop writing in the 80s, comparing White’s current schticky contrarian persona to Noz is a disservice to Noz.
2. Was this just some...
I love this Merrill Garbus video where she’s sharing some of her favorite Youtube clips from 2011, and I love it even more for the onslaught of thumbs down votes and “WTF who is this weird lady” comments it drew out of the Youtube denizens.
Five years ago tonight James Brown died, and on that night right around this time, I felt moved to bring something creative into being, to (in whatever clumsy little way I would) put that energy of creation out into the world in his honor. So I downloaded some random video clip from Youtube and opened up Sony Vegas, to experiment with editing video for the first time. After 5 or ten minutes of...
Following the stream of tonight’s #GodIsNotGreat hashtag on Twitter gives a perfect illustration of how to make a great (or evil) trending topic: it elicits a passionate response from people who get its context, and an equally passionate response, for totally different reasons, from people who don’t get its context.
(and I have to think Hitchens would be delighted by the spectacle.)
Not sure why Canibus crafted his apology to J Cole into this surrealistic jumble of outtakes, but I love it because it looks so much like my video making process. I have to do a lot more re-writing and mumbling and staring into space though, he seems to have it mostly figured out already. (Backstory on the apology here)

So can we stop talking about how “rape-y” this song sounds now?
This is a great perspective, and it’s a great point that a lot of her lines could be taken as worrying about the day’s oppressive societal norms rather than expressing that she herself doesn’t want to stay.
But I will say my sense of the song having creepy undertones (if you’re...

Joni Mitchell’s “River” is NOT A HAPPY CHRISTMAS CAROL. It does not bring me holiday cheer that compels me to merrily buy your products. Have you ever even listened to that song? It’s an achingly sad song about lost love that fills me with melancholy and regret every time you play it.
Well, okay I guess that makes it the perfect holiday song,...

Well, okay I guess that makes it the perfect holiday song, actually. Nevermind, carry on!
